EVANSTON, Ill., November 4, 2001 - Senior co-captain Kiley Kulina (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was the lone Lion to be named to the Big Ten all-tournament team which was announced at the conclusion of the field hockey tournament today held on the campus of Northwestern University. Kulina adds to a list of postseason accolades which includes Big Ten Player of the Year. A two-time first team all-conference pick, she tallied the game-tying goal with 42 seconds left in the game in Penn State's first round tournament loss to Iowa, sending the game into overtime. Entering the tournament, she was second in the Big Ten in scoring with 29 points and led the league in shots (92). During the regular season, Kulina was also named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week three out of the last four weeks of the season. Penn State is 12-7 after its loss in the Big Ten Tournament and finished in a tie for fourth. The Nittany Lions will wait until Tuesday night, Nov. 6 to see if they earned their 20th-consecutive bid into the NCAA Tournament.
