State College, Pa., October 28, 2001 - Senior co-captain Kiley Kulina (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) scored two goals and dished out an assist to lead the No. 13 Nittany Lion field hockey team to a 3-0 victory in its final regular season matchup at Indiana. The win secured a fifth-seeding for the Nittany Lions at the Big Ten Tournament from Nov. 2-4 at Northwestern University.

The Lions dominated much of the action in the first half. With 15:38 left in the opening period, senior co-captain Meredith Shulzitski (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) scored the game-winning goal on a pass from Kulina after a penalty corner. Kulina followed up a minute later scoring the first of her two tallies on a pass from the right corner from sophomore Kelly Larson (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsbury). The assist gives Larson the first point of her career. The score remained 2-0 for the rest of the half.

Just a minute into the second half, Kulina put the game away scoring, Penn State's third and final goal of the afternoon.

The Lions outshot the Hoosiers 25-1, and outcornered them 13-1. Despite the loss, Hoosier goalkeeper Molly Pulkrabek played a good game, recording a career-high 13 saves.

The Nittany Lions are 3-3 in the Big Ten, 12-6 overall. Penn State finishes the season in a tie for fourth place with Iowa, PSU's lowest finish ever, but receives a fifth seeding because the Hawkeyes defeated the Lions, 2-1, on October 5. With today's victory, the Lions have stretched their current win streak to eight games.

Penn State will head to the Big Ten Tournament at Northwestern University on Nov. 2 and will face no. 4 Iowa at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
