UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. October 26, 2004 - The No. 19 Penn State field hockey team (10-7, 3-2) surged offensively Tuesday, defeating Bucknell, 4-0, in Lewisburg for its eighth shutout of the year.

Michele Rigby (Dover, Del.) led the way with two goals, giving her a remarkable six over the last three games. Freshmen Kiersten Wood (Lititz, Pa.) and Mallory Weisen (Middleburg, Pa.) each also found the back of the cage vs. the Bison. Although the Lions were without star back back Molly Schriver (Kenilworth, Ill.), who was kept out of the game while she recovered from an injury she sustained over the weekend, Penn State was still able to put the clamps on the Bison. The Lions only allowed six shots by Bucknell as goalkeepers Megan Akstin (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Jenny Beam (Annandale, Va.) combined for the shutout.

On the other end, Penn State dominated, firing 21 shots in the first half, and 33 for the game, with Rigby taking 14 of those shots.

Wood scored first at the 13:37 mark off a rebounded shot. She then assisted the next goal by Rigby at 25:12. Weisen put Penn State up by three goals with her score at the 51:11 mark, and Rigby added the last score at the 54:53 mark off a Natalie Berrena (State College) pass.

The Nittany Lions return home for the final regular season match of the season vs. Michigan before heading to the Big Ten Tournament in Evanston, Ill. Nov. 5-7.
