Conroy¡¯s Pair of Goals Helps Penn State Blank Penn 2-0

State College, Pa., September 24, 2003 - The Penn State field hockey team used two goals from senior Heather Conroy (Duncannon, Pa.) in earning its fourth straight win, a 2-0 blanking of Pennsylvania on Wednesday at Bigler Field.

The Nittany Lions improve to 8-1 overall and extended their home-turf winning streak to nine consecutive games with the victory. Penn falls to 2-4 overall with the loss.

Conroy beat Penn keeper Amanda Jacobs off a feed from Timarie Legel (Morgantown, Pa.) for her first goal of the game at the 26:50 mark.

The senior added her sixth goal of the season at the 64:50 mark of the second half for the final margin of 2-0.

Penn State keeper Annie Zinkavich (Kingston, Pa.) made four saves while notching her third shutout of the season.

The Nittany Lions hit the road this weekend with a trip to Iowa City for a pair of games against Iowa and California. Penn State will meet Iowa at 12:00 p.m. (CT) on Oct. 27 before playing Cal on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 12:00 p.m. (CT).
