Postgame Concert to Highlight Penn State Field Hockey¡¯s Opening Home Weekend

State College, Pa., September 4, 2003 ¡ª The Penn State field hockey team opens the home schedule with a pair of games at Bigler Field this weekend as it hosts West Chester on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and Connecticut on Sunday beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Friday¡¯s night contest will be followed by a free concert featuring Katsu. In addition free subs courtesy of Jimmy John¡¯s will be available to all concertgoers while supplies last.

Katsu is currently riding the success of the release of their first LP ¡°Gorgeous Mess¡± which has been highly touted among local radio stations. Currently the band is in pre-production on their second LP which will be produced by Bret Alexander & Paul Smith of the Badlees. Katsu has recently accepted a recording deal with SAM Records.

The Penn State field hockey team is currently 1-0 overall following a 6-2 win at Old Dominion in its season opener last Sunday. The victory marked the first home loss for Old Dominion since the 1999 season when it suffered a 2-1 overtime setback against North Carolina.

Senior Timarie Legel (Morgantown, Pa.) enters this weekend as the reigning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week following her six-point (two goals, two assists) performance against the Lady Monarchs last weekend.

Penn State is 25-15-1 against West Chester and 13-9-4 against Connecticut in the all-time series heading into this weekend¡¯s action.
