UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - In its final exhibition before the season opener, the Penn State field hockey team travels to Delaware to take on the Blue Hens on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at Rullo Stadium.

The Nittany Lions take part in their second preseason contest, outscoring Pacific, 5-1, on Aug. 17. In that game, senior Jenna Chrismer (Mountain Top, Pa.) posted two goals.

Penn State, which holds at least a share of each of the last two Big Ten regular season titles, returns six starters and three of its top six scorers from a season ago.

The Nittany Lions, who compiled a 13-6 record and made the NCAA Tournament last year, welcome back two 2013 Big Ten First Team members in Laura Gebhart (Mount Joy, Pa.) and Kylie Licata (Mountain Top, Pa.), while Taylor Herold (Fredericksburg, Va.), who garnered second team honors, also returns. Herold led Penn State with 30 points (13 goals, four assists) last year.

Seniors Katie Breneman (Washington Boro, Pa.), Gebhart and Herold were each named to the 2014 Big Ten Field Hockey Players to Watch List.

The defending CAA Tournament Champions, the Blue Hens return after posting a 17-5 record in 2013, including a 6-0 mark in conference play. The squad defeated Liberty in the NCAA play-in game before falling to No. 3 UNC in the NCAA First Round matchup.

Penn State opens the season against Old Dominion at the Penn State Field Hockey Complex on Friday, Aug. 29 at 5 p.m.
