UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's and women's fencing team will travel to Vassar, N.Y. this weekend to compete in their first NCAA event of the season. The Nittany Lions will take on very powerful teams including Princeton, Harvard, Sacred Heart and New York University. Action will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1, starting at 9 a.m.

Penn State has come out strong so far this season in their quest to clinch a thirteenth national title. Recently, the Nittany Lions have had impressive performances at the Garret Penn State Open as well as the NAC Tournament.

Junior two-time All-American David Willette has led the men's foil event with his first place finish at the Garret Open. Willette was also a member of the first place men's foil senior team at the NAC Tournament, along with teammates Nobuo Bravo, Jeremy Goldstein, and David Gomez-Tanamachi. Freshmen Nobuo Bravo, Shaul Gordon, and Kaito Streets have all proved to be valuable additions to the team, and will be newcomers to watch this season.

Senior three-time All-American Margherita Guzzi Vincenti, and junior Nicole Glon have led the women's team so far this season. Both fencers placed first in their respective events at the Garret Penn State Open.
