Penn State Fencers Open Season By Hosting Junior Open; Lions Win Four Of Six Events
State College, Pa. September 29, 2001 The Penn State fencing team opened the season by hosting the Penn State Junior Open today. The Nittany and Lady Lions took home for of the six crowns up for grabs. Lion Marta Grochal won the womenĄŻs foil while teammate Stephanie Eim won the womenĄŻs epee. Zuzanna Siteck of the Polish Fencing Club won the womenĄŻs saber. Freshman Ian Schlaepfer won the menĄŻs foil while teammate Adam Wiercioch won the menĄŻs epee. Alex Rudnicki of the Lilov Fencing Association won the menĄŻs saber. The Penn State fencers will be of until hosting their Alumnae Meet in October.
