State College, Pa. September 29, 2001 The Penn State fencing team opened the season by hosting the Penn State Junior Open today. The Nittany and Lady Lions took home for of the six crowns up for grabs.

Lion Marta Grochal won the women¡¯s foil while teammate Stephanie Eim won the women¡¯s epee. Zuzanna Siteck of the Polish Fencing Club won the women¡¯s saber. Freshman Ian Schlaepfer won the men¡¯s foil while teammate Adam Wiercioch won the men¡¯s epee. Alex Rudnicki of the Lilov Fencing Association won the men¡¯s saber.

The Penn State fencers will be of until hosting their Alumnae Meet in October. Top finishers in each of the six events are as follows:
