State College, Pa. - April 5, 2001 - Penn State head fencing Coach Emick Kaidanov has named his captains for the 2001-2002 season. Juniors Stephanie Eim (Hendersonville, Tenn.) and Daniel Landgren (Bjuv, Sweden) will serve as women's and men's captains, respectively, next year.

Eim is coming off her third straight All-America performance, placing third in the epee at the NCAA Championships two weeks ago. Landgren, the 2000 NCAA National Champion, earned his third All-America honor with a fifth place finish this year.

Penn State placed second at this year's NCAA Championships, earning 172 points to St. John's 180. It was a superb finish for the six-time defending national champions, who battled injury all season and nearly upset a veteran and senior laden Red Storm squad.

In other fencing news, the Penn State fencers will hold their annual Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 7, at Toftrees. The banquet begins at 2 p.m. and the public is invited. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the door.
