University Park, Pa. - The Penn State Women's Fencing team finished a decent 3-2 overall at this weekend's Penn State duals competition. A total of seven teams participated in women's competition this Saturday and the Nittany Lions played and defeated Duke, Drew, and Cleveland State while losing Temple and Penn.

The Nittany Lions had two of their three wins scoring in the twenties. The closest matchups came agains against Temple and the University of Pennsylvania, losing those matchups by one and three points respectively.

Penn State's highlight play came from epee, where they won that part of the matchup in all five matchups. In epee play, the Nittany Lions outscored their opponents 35-10. As for sabre, they outscored their opponents 33-13 and 28-12 in foil competition. As a result, the Nittany Lions had a winning record in all three categories. With the Princeton and Penn State duals over, Penn State has a 7-3 overall record, carrying a #4 ranking in the most recent fencing coaches poll.

The Nittany Lions men's and women's teams will head to Brandeis for more duals next Sunday. They will take on Boston College, Haverford, Sacred Heart, Tufts, and M.I.T. Following the meet at Brandeis, Penn State will continue duals on February 23 at Northwestern. The NCAA Championships for Fencing are scheduled for March 13-16.
