Senior Tamara Najm heads into her final season with the Penn State fencers looking to build upon last year's first trip to nationals. The three year starter has nearly 100 career wins on which to draw as she makes a run at All-America honors.
Lion Career:
2005-06:
Najm went 37-7 as a junior and qualified for nationals for the first time after a fifth place finish at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals. She went on to place 11th at the national tournament, earning Honorable Mention All-America honors. Najm went 10-3, 13-4 and a perfect 14-0 on Penn State's three dual match dates. An outstanding student, she was a member of the Big Ten All-Academic squad as well. Another highlight of last year was her making the finals at NACs in the senior division.
2004-05:
Najm posted a superb 38-9 mark in 2004-05, good enough for an .809 clip. She placed ninth at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals and missed out on a spot in the national tournament.
2003-04:
Najm went 19-2 as a freshman in dual meets and placed fifth at the Mid-Atlantic/South Regionals. Najm's top performances included a 9-0 day vs. Penn, Cornell and Temple on Feb. 22, 2004.
High School/Personal: Najm helped guide MHS to a 39-9 meet record as a junior and a superb 40-2 record during her senior campaign. In 2003, she helped Morristown claim the District 1 title and place third in the New Jersey State Championships.
