UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Penn State Lady Lion guard Maggie Lucas (Narberth, Pa.) was selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after averaging 13.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals in two wins for the Lady Lions. The rookie guard is the fourth different Lady Lion (Alex Bentley, Nikki Greene, Marisa Wolfe) to win Freshman of the Week honors since the award's inception last season.
Lucas continued her rock solid start for the Lady Lions with a pair of double-digit scoring performances last week. In Sunday's win over SEC foe South Carolina, Lucas was 5-for-8 from the field, including 2-for-3 from three-point range, on the way to 14 points. She also chipped in one assist and two steals.
