UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Penn State Lady Lion basketball team will kickoff its WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State fundraising campaign with a Hoop Shoot prior to the Penn State-Illinois football game. The Hoop Shoot, which will be located on the arena floor at the Bryce Jordan Center, will take place from 12-2:30 p.m. Members of the Lady Lions will be on hand from 1:20-2:30 p.m.
The Hoop Shoot gives fans the opportunity to shoot one free throw for $1 or shoot six free throws for $5. With a made shot, fans will win a prize and will be registered to win the grand prize of box seats for a future Lady Lion game. All funds raised on Saturday will go directly to the Pink Zone fundraising efforts.
The Official 2012 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State t-shirt will be available for purchase beginning this weekend at the Illinois football game. The adult shirts are $15 with $5 of every shirt going to the Pink Zone fundraising efforts, while the kids shirt will be $10 with $2 going to the Pink Zone fundraising efforts. This weekend, the shirts will be available outside of the Penn State Bookstore location at Beaver Stadium. Fans can purchase the shirts at all Penn State Bookstore locations.
The Lady Lions will also participate in Tailgreat at the Bryce Jordan Center from 1-1:20 p.m. The team will present a check to the beneficiaries of the 2011 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State and will also spend time interacting with fans.
For those fans planning to come to the 2012 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State, if you reserve your discounted room at the Nittany Lion Inn during the month of October, $10 will be donated to the Pink Zone fundraising efforts. The 2012 WBCA Pink Zone at Penn State will take place on Sunday, Feb. 26 as the Lady Lions take on Minnesota in the Bryce Jordan Center. Last year, the Lady Lions donated nearly $200,000 for breast cancer causes. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, J.C. The Lady Lions, who will face Bloomsburg in an exhibition on Sat., Nov. 5, open their season with the Lady Lion Classic on Fri., Nov. 11 and Sun., Nov. 13 at the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State faces Washington State in the tourney opener at 6 p.m. Friday, while Middle Tennessee State takes on UNC-Wilmington at 8 p.m. Lady Lion Basketball season tickets are available by calling 814-867-2557. Season tickets are $117 for adults, $52 for youth and $91 for seniors. Single game tickets go on sale Tuesday, Oct. 11. PNC Flex Books are available again this year for $99. The Flex Book gives fans 12 vouchers, including one for the Coaches vs. Cancer game and one for the Pink Zone game, that can be redeemed for Nittany Lion and Lady Lion Basketball tickets in any combination.
