ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Penn State seniors Maren Walseth (Bloomington, Minn.) and Lisa Shepherd (Richmond, Ind.) have been named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) All-Star Challenge Team, WBCA announced on Thursday.

The Lady Lion duo, competing on opposite teams, are two of the nation's top 20 seniors that will play in the All-Star Challenge on Saturday, March 31, at 4 p.m. at the Washington University Field House in St. Louis.

Walseth, a 6-3 forward, is a Kodak District 2 All-American. She earned First Team all-Big Ten honors for the second consecutive year. A two-year starter, the team captain averaged 13.2 ppg and 7.2 rpg for the Lady Lions. A three-time Academic all-Big Ten honoree, Walseth was also a candidate for the Verizon Academic All-America Team. She became the 23rd Lady Lion in school history to notch 1,000 career points after hitting the milestone in the win over No. 10 Louisiana State in November.

Shepherd, a 5-11 shooting guard, was a Second Team all-Big Ten performer. She scored in double figures in 21 games and finished in scoring this year. A three-time Academic all-Big Ten honoree, Shepherd was also a candidate for the Verizon Academic All-America Team. The team captain is Penn State's career three-point leader, holding both the trey buckets made and attempted all-time records. She concluded her PSU career fifth in career scoring.
