Rachel Rito is in her fourth year as director of basketball operations. She is responsible for a variety of administrative duties, including serving as the director of the Washington's Whoopsters Kids Club, acting as the liaison for the Lady Lion Cager Club and coordinating team travel. Rito also oversees the Lady Lions' community service and alumni relations efforts. She supervises the student managers and provides support for the team's marketing efforts. Rito interned for two years under Assistant Athletics Director Jenn James in the Penn State athletic events office as student. During her internship, Rito assisted with events management for men's and women's basketball, soccer, lacrosse and volleyball. She also coordinated a youth volleyball clinic in conjunction with the men's volleyball team in 2004. Additionally, Rito was an active member of the events staff for the 2004 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament First and Second Round games held at the Bryce Jordan Center. She has also served on the staff for the PIAA Basketball Championships, NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championship, NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship and the Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Rito spent one year at The Summit Tennis and Athletic Club in Altoona prior to joining the Lady Lion staff. She also served as an assistant coach for the girls volleyball program at Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Altoona. Rito received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Penn State University in 2005. She resides in State College. |
