University Park, Pa., July 24, 2000 - Penn State wrestling coach Troy Sunderland announced the Nittany Lion's 2000-2001 slate Monday. Highlighting the schedule will be a stretch of seven-straight home dates that run nearly the entire month of January into the beginning of February and the return of the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Wrestling Duals to the Bryce Jordan Center.

Penn State will determine its initial starting line-up for the season on Nov. 5, in Rec Hall with the annual Varsity Wrestle-Offs. The Nittany Lions will then take on three early season tournaments, including the Penn State Open Dec. 3, in Rec Hall, before opening the dual meet season on Dec. 10, with a double-header against Clarion and Navy in Rec Hall.

Penn State will hit the road for a double-header at West Virginia and Pittsburgh on either Jan. 6 or 7, before returning home for a month long home-stand the remainder of January. Penn State opens the home-stand against rival Lehigh on Jan. 14. The National Duals return Jan. 20-21, with a slate of teams that include seven of the top eight finishers at the 2000 NCAA Championships. Highlighting the list of recognized powers with Penn State are Iowa, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Minnesota.

The Nittany Lions return to dual meet competition on Jan. 26 and 28, with a Friday evening date with Ohio State and a Sunday afternoon meeting with Illinois. Another home double-header is scheduled for Jan. 31, as Penn State will take on intrastate rivals Pennsylvania and Lock Haven in Rec Hall. Big Ten foe Northwestern visits on Feb. 2, before defending NCAA champion Iowa returns to "Happy Valley" for a Sunday afternoon match on Feb. 4 in Rec Hall.

Penn State will complete the remainder of their dual meet slate on the road as they travel to Wisconsin (Feb. 9), Minnesota (Feb. 11), Michigan (Feb. 16) and Michigan State (Feb. 18). Northwestern University hosts the 2001 Big Ten Championships in Evanston, Ill., March 3-4, and the 2001 NCAA Championships return to the University of Iowa's Carver-Hawkeye Arena, March 15-17.
