Woodall Wins Junior Pan Am Title

Bogata, Columbia, June 18, 2002 - Penn State sophomore James Woodall added to an already impressive list of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling accomplishments in Bogata, Columbia the first week of June, as he captured the freestyle title and finished second in Greco-Roman at 69 kg at the Junior Pan Am Championships.

Woodall wrestled seven matches in the weekend competition as part of a four-man U.S. team of wrestlers. He posted a 3-0 mark in freestyle and a 3-1 record in Greco-Roman. He faced a Cuban wrestler in the finals of both divisions.

"It was a really good trip with some good competition," Woodall, who was sponsored by the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, said of the trip. "We got to see a little of the city and had a lot of fun."

Woodall will head to St. Paul, Minn., this weekend to compete in the 2002 U.S. World Team Trials June 21-23.
