Wrestlers ranked No. 21 in NWCA All-Academic Team rankings
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., June 15, 2005 - The 2004-05 Penn State Wrestling Team earned the No. 21 ranking in the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Top 30 Team Rankings. The Nittany Lions posted a cumulative grade-point average of 2.965 to secure a spot in the rankings for the 12th straight year. The Nittany Lions are the only team in the NCAA to be recognized among the All-Academic teams every year since 1994. Brown University claimed the top ranking with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2762. Penn State ranked third among the five Big Ten teams that made the rankings. Four Nittany Lions earned Academic All-Big Ten honors including Steve Troup (Mifflinburg, Pa.), C.J. Wonsettler (Scenery Hill, Pa.), James Woodall (St. DuPont, Pa.) and James Yonushonis (Philipsburg, Pa.). Penn State finished the season with a 10-10 dual meet record and were lead by two-time Big Ten Champion Eric Bradley (Plaistow, N.H.). Bradley earned All-American honors by placing fourth at the NCAA Wrestling Tournament. Freshman Phil Davis (Harrisburg, Pa.) also made All-American by placing seventh.
