UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; June 12, 2007 ¨C Penn State Nittany Lion freshman Bubba Jenkins (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Dan Vallimont (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) have been named to the Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie Team. The long-time national publication honors only 60 wrestlers nationally and Penn State is once again well-represented.

Jenkins, a true freshman who began the year at 149, moved up to 157 in January and grabbed the starting spot for the Big Ten season. Jenkins posted a superb 23-12 overall record and went 4-4 in Big Ten duals as a rookie. In a loaded weight class, Jenkins placed sixth at the Big Ten Tournament and earned a trip the NCAA Championships during his first collegiate season. He went 1-2 at nationals.

Vallimont, a red-shirt freshman, grabbed the starting spot at 149 during wrestle-offs and never let go. He ended the season with a 3-2 showing at nationals, advancing to the "Round of 12" and finishing just one win shy of becoming an All-American. Vallimont went 22-12 during the season, including a 5-3 mark in Big Ten duals and a fourth place finish at the Big Ten Tournament.

Amateur Wrestling News honors six rookie wrestlers at each weight class and ranks them accordingly. The top pick in each class is named that weight's Rookie of the Year. The magazine also tabs an overall national rookie of the year (Minnesota 125-pounder Jayson Ness). Jenkins was ranked No. 3 at 157 and Vallimont was ranked No. 4 at 149.
