James Woodall was named to the 2006 NWCA National All-Academic Team, the second time Woodall has received the honor. Woodall and teammates Jake Strayer and James Yonushonis were also named to the Academic All-Big Ten team.

State College, Pa. - June 2, 2006 - Two Penn State Nittany Lion wrestlers have been named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association National All-Academic Team, leading Penn State to a 17th place finish in the team race. Red-shirt freshman Jake Strayer (South Fork, Pa.) and senior James Woodall (Dupont, Pa.) both garnered the honors in the recently announced list.

Strayer, a national qualifier who advanced to the NCAA's 'Round of 12' in Oklahoma City, posted a 3.25 grade point average in kinesiology. The South Fork, Pa., native went 26-6 this year, starting all season long for Penn State at 133 pounds. Strayer was also named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team for winter sports.

Woodall, a national qualifier, sported a superb 3.890 GPA as a graduate student in education. For Woodall, 2006 marks the award is his second as he was a second team pick in 2004. He ended the year with a 10-9 overall record, starting all season at 149 pounds. Woodall, like Strayer, earned Academic All-Big Ten laurels for a stunning fifth time.

Junior James Yonushonis (Philipsburg, Pa.) earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as well for Penn State. Yonushonis was an All-American at 174 pounds this year, placing eighth in Oklahoma City in March. He ended the year with a 24-9 overall record.

Head coach Troy Sunderland's team is the only team in the nation to finish in the top 25 of the NWCA's team listings every year since 1994. For Sunderland, who has been head coach since the '98-'99 season, each of his teams has placed in the top 25. Brown won the team title with a 3.352 team GPA while Penn State was 17th with a 2.934 mark.
