Las Vegas, Nev., - Two-time Penn State national champion and three-time All-American Kerry McCoy continued his domination of the United States freestyle heavyweight division by winning his third-straight U.S. Open National Championship in Las Vegas, Nev. McCoy, wrestling for the New York Athletic Club, downed former Nebraska standout Tolly Thompson 3-0 in overtime of the final in the 264.5-pound freestyle division. Two other former Penn State wrestlers placed in the competition. Two-time national champion Jeff Prescott finished third in the 121-pound freestyle division, while former All-American and current coaching assistant Ross Thatcher finished fourth in the 211.75-pound Greco-Roman division.
