Wrestling Adds Four To Recruiting Class

University Park, Pa., May 11, 2000 - Penn State head wrestling coach Troy Sunderland announced the addition of four more wrestlers to his 2000 recruiting class bringing the Nittany Lions total number of new recruits to eight. Sunderland said he still plans to continue to add to the list.

Heading the latest group from the late singing period are three-time New Hampshire all-state champion Eric Bradley (Plaistow, N.H.) and Josh Moore (Franklin, Pa.), a transfer from Edinboro University and the twin brother of starting Nittany Lion 133-pounder Scott Moore. Also joining the Nittany Lions will be Cliff Wonsettler (Scenery Hill, Pa.) out of Bentworth High and Daniel Waters (Virginia Beach, Va.) from Sussex Technical High, both are expected to compete in the upper-middle weights.

Bradley signed with Penn State after being extensively recruited out of Timberlane Regional High School by numerous schools. He completed his high school career with a 149-19 record and reached the finals of the New Hampshire all-state championship four-straight years, winning three titles. He also won the 2000 New England High School Championship after finishing third in 1999.

"Eric is a very dominant, physically mature athlete," Barry Chooljian, Bradley's high school coach, said. "He is very strong and quick and his work ethic and passion for wrestling are unmatched. He's a very serious athlete."

A four-time New Hampshire class champion, Bradley finished first at the 1999 National Open in Alabama and this year won the Delaware Mid-Atlantic, an invitational rated as the toughest high school tournament in the nation this year. He posted a perfect 45-0 record in his senior campaign and did not allow a takedown or a scoring move other than an escape all season. He was subsequently invited to compete in the Dapper Dan Classic. Also an exceptional student, he carries a 3.5 GPA and is expected to compete at 174 pounds for the Nittany Lions.

"We had Eric in camp last year and were impressed with him as a very hard working young man," Sunderland said. "I think with his work ethic and commitment to wrestling and academics he is capable of being very good at Penn State."

"I'm very excited to be coming to Penn State and to work with coach Sunderland and Hart," Bradley said. "I think I always wanted to wrestle for Penn State."

Moore joins the Nittany Lions after red-shirting his freshman season at Edinboro University. He posted a 22-3 with 10 falls, two match terminations and five major decisions while competing unattached in several tournaments. He also had a chance to face off against a pair of Nittany Lions falling 12-3 to eventual NCAA champion Jeremy Hunter and splitting a pair of decisions with Anthony Rivera, who was also red-shirting. A three-time PIAA state placer at Franklin High School, Moore posted a career record of 148-14, including going 39-1 in his senior campaign losing only in the 1999 PIAA final. He also finished third and fifth in the 1998 and 1997 PIAA Tournaments. He is expected to compete at either 125 or 133 for Penn State.

"Josh is a very intense competitor and loves to wrestle," Sunderland said. "He will be a terrific addition to our team."
