Junior Stefan Tighe heads into his third season at Penn State looking to once again challenge for the starting spot as Penn State's heavyweight. Tighe saw spot action last year in the starting line-up, picking up a couple dual meet wins and making his Big Ten dual debut. This year, he heads into 2008-09 looking to battle teammates John Laboranti and Cameron Wade for the starting nod and make his Big Ten and NCAA Championship debuts.

Lion Career:

2007-08: Solid at wrestle-offs with 3-0 performance, including a major...made Penn State dual match debut with 3-2 win over Maryland's Pat Gilmore on 11/11...got first career collegiate pin on 11/17, pinning Hofstra's James Guerin in 5:19 to help spark Penn State to a 28-11 win over the Pride...went 2-1 at the Nittany Lion Open on 12/2, only loss a 4-2 (sv) decision to #18 Rashard Goff (ua-Cleveland State)...close SV loss to Iowa State's No. 4 David Zabriskie on 1/12 at National Duals.

2006-07: Tighe wrestled in two tournaments last year, going 3-1 at Mat-Town, placing second, and 5-2 and placing fifth at the MSU invitational.

Cornhusker Career:

2005-06: Tighe red-shirted at Nebraska...he posted a 23-7 mark in open competition...an outstanding student, he was on the Big XII Commissioners Honor Roll...2006 Nebraska Red-Shirt of the Year...solid freestyle campaign, third at FILA Juniors and third at University Nationals.

High School/Personal: 2005 PIAA state runner-up, placed sixth in 2004...went 28-3 as a senior and was 77-28 during his career for Cathedral Prep...the 2004 Prep squad was ranked 18th in the nation. Stefan TIGHE
