Notched 11-9 mark in open tournaments...1-2 at Binghamton Open on 11/11...1-2 at ESU Open on 11/17...0-1 at NLO on 12/1...2-1 at Hitchcock Open on 1/20...perfect 4-0 mark at Messiah Open on 1/26 to win 197 pound title...4-2 at National Collegiate Open on 2/24.

Scott Syrek came to Penn State after having his senior year at Owen J. Roberts High School cut short by injury. Despite only wrestling in 12 matches as a senior (going 9-3 at 215); Syrek compiled an impressive 112-30 career record with 45 pins. He went 33-7 as a junior, 31-10 as a sophomore and 39-10 as a freshman. Syrek is the son of Kristy and Rich Syrek.
