Nittany Lions visit Michigan State Friday and Michigan on Super Bowl Sunday
Junior Nate Morgan heads into the 2013-14 season coming off a second season missed due to injury. Morgan got the nod at 133 early in the year for Penn State but an injury in his first bout quickly ended his season. He started at 125 for Penn State his true freshman year and, after two years on the sidelines, is ready once again to battle for the Nittany Lions. Parents: Jill and Mike Morgan -- Major: Kinesiology
Lion Career 2012-13: Started at 133 in dual against West Virginia on 11/18, dropping 6-2 decision to #17 Colin Johnston but getting injured in the process...missed rest of season.
2011-12: Missed 2011-12 with an injury...red-shirted...First Team Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
2010-11: Began season by going 6-1 to take third at Washington and Jefferson Open on 11/13...Strong 4-1 performance at ESU Open on 11/20, advancing to the finals and placing second...went 4-2 at the Nittany Lion Open on 12/5 to take seventh...made his Penn State varsity debut in front of sold out Rec Hall crowd on 1/30, losing to #2 Matt McDonough in Big Ten dual vs. the Hawkeyes...got first Nittany Lion and Big Ten dual meet win with 6-5 victory over Illinois' Logan Arlis on 2/11.
Morgan came to Penn State from McCook, Neb., where he was a Nebraska state champion for McCook High School. A three-time state qualifier, Morgan placed at the Nebraska state tournament three times, advancing to the finals twice and winning once. An outstanding student, Morgan was a member of the National Honor Society, on the McCook High School student council and a two-time Academic All-State pick.
