James English heads into the 2013-14 ready for a sixth year of wrestling at Penn State, having received a medical hard-ship waiver from the NCAA after missing two full seasons with an injury. English was vital in Penn State's championship run last year and will be again, battling for the spot at 149 after his most successful year in `12-13. Parents: Angela and Jim English -- Major: 2013 Chemical Engineering Graduate; pursuing second degree in Energy, Business and Finance.
Beat #18 Shane Welsh of Lehigh on 11/16 then posted 8-0 major over West Virginia's Brutus Scheffel on 11/18....posted 5-1 mark at NLO on 12/2 to take third place...outstanding 6-2 mark at Southern Scuffle on 1/1-2 to place third, only loss was 12-6 dec. to #1 Jordan Oliver of Oklahoma State in quarterfinals...first career Big Ten dual win on 1/13, beating Michigan State's Dan Osterman 6-0 in Rec Hall...dropped tough 5-2 decision to #13 Ivan Lopouchanski in dual at Purdue on 1/20.

Began the season at 149 as two-time All-American Frank Molinaro rehabs from pre-season injury...downed Bloomsburg's Josh Roosa 8-4 in season opening dual on 11/12...stellar day at the Sprawl and Brawl Duals on 11/21, downing No. 9 Corey Jantzen of Harvard (4-3) and No. 8 Brandon Rader of West Virginia (5-3)...went 5-1 at the Nittany Lion Open on 12/5 to take third at 149, only loss a 3-1 dec. to #10 Mario Mason of Rutgers in semis...went 5-2 with a pin and a major to take seventh place at the Southern Scuffle on 12/29-30, only losses to #1 Kyle Dake of Cornell and #14 Ivan Loupochanski of UNC-Greensboro...outstanding freestyle campaign capped off with 2011 University Nationals title at 70 kg.
Took fifth at the ESU Open, grabbing five wins...placed second at Mat-Town, falling 2-1 in the finals...also competed in the Hitchcock Open at Millersville, picking up four wins.
