Dave Hart Position: Director of Camp Development Years: 10th Season

A teammate and close friend of head coach Troy Sunderland on the Penn State wrestling teams of the early 1990's, Dave Hart mans the helm of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club.

A two-time All-American and three-time Academic All-American as a Nittany Lion, Hart was a classmate of Sunderland's as the two helped lead Penn State into the Big Ten era as seniors. They joined Sanshiro Abe as Penn State's first Big Ten Champions in 1993.

Dave earned a third place finish in 1993 and fourth in 1992 at the NCAA Championships while wrestling at 167 pounds. Hart helped lead the Nittany Lions to a second place team finish in the 1993 NCAA Tournament and the championship title at the National Duals. He also claimed a University Freestyle National title and a first and second place finish in the EWL tournament during his career. An exceptional student, Hart was named a first-team GTE Academic All-American in 1993 and earned an NCAA post-graduate scholarship.

Hart graduated in 1993 with a degree in secondary education with emphasis in the earth/space and general science option and went on to gain a masters degree from Penn State in environmental pollution control. Hart began his coaching career immediately following graduation from Penn State as he accepted a position as a Lion volunteer coach. He held that position until 1995 when he took a position as Environmental/Safety Compliance Officer and assistant wrestling coach at St. Paul's, a prep school in New Hampshire.

In 1997, Hart returned to Pennsylvania, where he had won a PIAA state title in 1987 for Juniata High, as he accepted a teaching position at Lewistown Middle School and served as an assistant coach for the Lewistown High School wrestling team. Hart also continued his coaching experience serving as co-director of the Lion Wrestling Camp with Sunderland in 1996 and 1997.

Dave was married to his wife, Chena, in 1993. The couple had their first child, Hannah, in 2004. The couple welcomed a second daughter, Addison, in 2006. Hart is currently pursuing his Law Degree at Penn State.
