Sophomore Nathan Andrews heads into the 2008-09 season looking to build upon the foundation laid last year when he saw action in five open tournaments for the Nittany Lions. Andrews wrestled in ten bouts and picked up two wins. With the graduation of four-time All-American and national champion Phil Davis, Andrews will hope to work for substantial time on the mat for Penn State as the Nittany Lions look for a new 197-pounder. Lion Career: 2007-08: Went 0-2 in the ESU Open and 0-1 in the Nittany Lion Open...picked up first win of the year with 9-3 victory over Franklin and Marshall's Dan Canfield at the Wilkes Open in December...went 1-1 at Wilkes...went 1-2 at Hitchcock Open at Millersville, including 14-5 major over American's Keefer Brooks...went 0-2 at Kent State Open. An outstanding student, Andrews won the team's Academic and Community Service Award after posting a 3.90 GPA in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering. 2006-07: Red-shirted last year...saw action as an unattached wrester at both 197 and heavyweight...went 6-10 overall...1-1 in falls.
