Pair Of Men's Volleyball Players Honored By Volleyball Magazine
State College, Pa., July 21, 2000 - Penn State men's volleyball team members Jose Quinones (Bayamon, P.R.) and Zeljko Koljesar (Kitchener, Ontario) were recently recognized for their outstanding performances during the 2000 season by Volleyball Magazine. Sophomore setter Quinones was named to the publication's All-America Teams, earning third-team status. Koljesar, who was previously recognized as EIVA Freshman of the Year, was selected to Volleyball Magazine's All-Freshman squad. Quinones paced the Nittany Lions' offense with 17.19 assists per game. The sophomore currently ranks third among Penn State's career assist leaders with 3,777. He was honored as the EIVA Player of the Year following the 2000 season. Koljesar enjoyed a tremendous freshman campaign in which he recorded the top hitting percentage among the team's outside hitters at .340 and recorded the second highest kill average on the team at 4.39 per game. Penn State concluded the 2000 season with a loss to eventual national champion UCLA in the national semifinals.
