Anderson Seeing Action with U.S. Men¹s National Team

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.; - Penn State men¹s volleyball alum Matt Anderson scored 17 points to boost the U.S. Men¹s National Volleyball Team to a 3-2 (25-16, 30-32, 25-17, 20-25, 15-6) victory over the Netherlands on Sunday, June 14 in 2009 FIVB World League action. After a 0-3 loss on Saturday, the win gave the U.S. a split of their first two matches. The team heads to Italy for matches on June 19 and 21. The U.S. team won last year before continuing on to Beijing, where the team captured the gold medal. Starting the match at outside hitter, Anderson helped set the pace in the first set with three points off his serves, getting the U.S. a 4-0 lead to begin the match. His 17 points came on 14 kills, two blocks and one ace as the U.S. battled to the -2 victory. Anderson helped Penn State to a 2008 National Championship before by-passing his senior year to play professionally in Seoul, South Korea for the Hyuandi Capital Skywalkers of the Korean Volleyball League. This season, the Skywalkers claimed first in the regular season before losing 3-1 in the championship series. 2009 FIVB World League Schedule and Results
