State College, Pa., April 20, 2000 - Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference officials announced the 2000 All-EIVA first and second teams, along with the Uvaldo Acosta Memorial Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year this afternoon. Penn State led the way with five overall selections. Three Nittany Lions earned first team honors including, outside hitter Carlos Guerra (Fr./Tampico, Mexico), opposite hitter Zelimir Koljesar (Fr./Kitchener, Ont.) and setter Jose Quinones (So./Bayamon, P.R.). Middle blockers Dan Hoechst (Jr./Madison, Wis.) and Adam Whitescarver (Sr./Deltona, Fla.) were both named to the second team. Quinones was named the Uvaldo Acosta Memorial Player of the Year, which is given annually to the conference's most valuable player. Koljesar was honored as the EIVA newcomer of the year.
