Men's Volleyball To Host NYU Saturday In EIVA Quarterfinals

State College, Pa.- The Penn State men's volleyball team will begin its postseason quest on Saturday in the EIVA quarterfinals, hosting New York University at 7:30 p.m. in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions (21-7, 13-1 EIVA Tait) are the #1 seed in the EIVA tournament, by merit of completing the regular season atop the EIVA Tait Division. NYU, the #8 seed, advanced to the second round of the tournament by defeating #9 Sacred Heart 3-0 in the tournament play-in game.

Penn State has a 34-3 all-time mark in the EIVA Tournament, dating back to the 1986 season. The Lions have advanced to the championship match in 14 of 15 previous conference championships, posting a record of 12-2 in EIVA title matches. PSU has never been defeated in an EIVA tournament match which has been played in Rec Hall (16-0).

In the other EIVA quarterfinal matches, #6 Princeton will face #3 George Mason, #5 Juniata takes on #4 Rutgers-Newark, and #2 Concordia hosts #7 St. Francis. The semifinal rounds of the EIVA tournament will be held in Rec Hall on Thursday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. with the EIVA championship on Saturday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m.

The EIVA champion receives an automatic bid to the 2001 NCAA Division I Men's Volleyball National Championships which will be held on May 3rd and 5th at The Pyramid in Long Beach, Calif..
