UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., April 12, 2007 ¨C The seventh-ranked Penn State men¡¯s volleyball team (19-6) travels to Lewis and No. 11 Loyola-Chicago on Friday and Saturday, April 13 and 14, for its last regular-season weekend. Both contests start at 7:00 p.m. CT (8:00 p.m. ET).

Previewing Penn State
The Nittany Lions enter the weekend with a 19-6 overall record after defeating East Stroudsburg (30-23, 30-21, 30-18) and George Mason (32-30, 19-30, 30-25, 30-20) last weekend to finish undefeated in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) and earn the right to host the EIVA Championship on April 26 and 28. Sophomore opposite Matt Anderson (West Seneca, N.Y.) and senior outside hitter Alex Gutor (Kiev, Ukraine) lead Penn State with 4.21 and 4.06 kills per game, respectively, as sophomore middle hitter Max Holt (Cincinnati, Ohio) chips in 2.62 kills per game and freshman middle hitter Max Lipsitz (Williamsville, N.Y.) posts 2.30 kills per game. Junior setter Luke Murray (East Petersburg, Pa.) directs the offense with 12.50 assists per game as senior libero Ryan Walthall (Irvine, Calif.) tops the defense with 2.28 digs per game and senior outside hitter Aaron Smith (Forest, Va.) chips in 1.63 digs per game. Holt leads the blocking front with 1.21 blocks per game as Lipsitz chips in 1.03 blocks per game and Murray contributes 0.77 blocks per game. As a team, Penn State is hitting .330 with 15.22 kills per game, 1.81 service aces per game, 8.54 digs per game and 2.75 blocks per game.
The Series: Penn State vs. Lewis
Penn State leads Lewis, 11-7, in a series that began in 1994. The last meeting was a three-game Nittany Lion win (30-28, 30-24, 30-22) on April 8, 2005 at Rec Hall. The last meeting in Romeoville, Ill., was a five-game Penn State victory (29-31, 30-19, 30-26, 35-37, 15-11) on Jan. 17, 2004.
The Series: Penn State vs. Loyola-Chicago
The series between Penn State and Loyola-Chicago is tied at 4-4 and began in 1996. The last meeting between the two schools was a three-game Rambler win (30-25, 31-29, 30-28) on Jan. 16, 2004, in Chicago. The last Nittany Lion win was a three-game victory (30-28, 30-27, 30-27) on Jan. 31, 2003, in University Park, Pa.
