Guerra Tabbed As EIVA Men's Volleyball Player Of The Week
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., March 4, 2003 - Senior men's volleyball player Carlos Guerra (Tamaulipus, Mexico) has been named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Player of the Week for his role in Penn State's four conference victories last week.
Guerra averaged 4.31 kills per game and hit a combined .340 in victories over St. Francis, Rutgers-Newark, Concordia and Princeton. The senior pounded a season-high 21 kills against Princeton and produced double-digit kill figures in three of the four matches. In 13 games, Guerra averaged 0.31 service aces per game, 1.15 digs per game and 0.85 blocks per game. For the season, Guerra ranks first on the team with 4.16 kills per game while hitting .276. He ranks third all-time on Penn State's career kill list (1,601) and is ninth (254) on the career blocking chart. He also sits second on the all-time service ace list (108), behind current teammate Zeljko Koljesar (Kitchener, Ontario/109).
