BRONXVILLE, N.Y., March 1, 2003 - The 11th-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team continued its road winning streak, defeating Concordia in four games (30-22, 30-22, 28-30, 30-26) Saturday night in Bronxville, N.Y. The Nittany Lions improve to 11-3, 7-0 in the EIVA Tait division while the Clippers fall to 4-8, 4-3 in the conference.

Four Nittany Lions posted double-digit kills in the win, led by senior Carlos Guerra (Tamaulipus, Mexico) with 15 and freshman Matt Proper (Guys Mills, Pa.) with 12. Senior Zeljko Koljesar (Kitchener, Ontario) and junior Keith Kowal (Reading, Pa.) both chipped in 11 kills apiece. Penn State outhit Concordia .396 to .221 while both teams tallied 61 kills.

Freshman setter Dan O'Dell (Rochester, N.Y.) directed the offense for three games, recording 43 assists while junior Nate Matthews (Rochester, N.Y.) dished out 10 assists in one game of action. Junior libero Ricky Mattei (San Juan, Puerto Rico) posted a team- and match-high 10 digs with Koljesar adding six.

Penn State outblocked the Clippers 13.5 to 8.0 with Kowal leading the way with five blocks, including two solo efforts. Junior Norm Keil (St. James, N.Y.) added four blocks along with his seven kills while O'Dell and Proper both chipped in three blocks apiece.

Penn State remains on the road, traveling to Princeton on March 2 at 4:00 p.m. The Lions return home on March 4 to face EIVA-rival George Mason at 7:30 p.m. The contest with the Patriots can be heard in the State College area on WMAJ 1450 AM or on the web at www.GoPSUsports.com.
