UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The third-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team hosts Mount Olive College tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall. Admission is free and Gametracker can be found at www.GoPSUsports.com.
Previewing Penn State
The Nittany Lions enter tonight's match with a 7-0 record for the first time under head coach Mark Pavlik after defeating Saint Francis on Friday night in three games (30-19, 30-16, 30-23) to open up EIVA play. Junior outside hitter Matt Anderson leads the squad with 5.57 kills per game as junior opposite Ryan Sweitzer chips in 3.73 kpg, junior middle hitter Max Holt tallies 2.92 kills per game on .474 hitting and sophomore middle hitter Max Lipsitz adds in 2.54 kpg on .485 hitting. Senior setter Luke Murray directs the offense with 13.71 assists per game and freshman libero Dennis Del Valle tops the defense with 3.50 digs per game, having produced his second consecutive 16-dig match against the Red Flash. Holt tops the blocking list with 1.42 blocks per game while Lipsitz and Murray chip in 1.17 and 1.12 bpg, respectively, and Sweitzer posts 1.00 bpg. As a team, Penn State is hitting .339 with 16.00 kills per game, 1.12 service aces per game, 10.21 digs per game and 3.38 blocks per game.

Mount Olive College is a Division II school located in Mount Olive, North Carolina, 60 miles east of the state's capital, Raleigh, and 75 miles west of the coastal town of Wilmington. Mount Olive College was founded in 1951 and is a private, co-educational, liberal arts institution. It is the eighth largest private college in North Carolina. Head coach Sasha Gutor has a connection to Penn State, as his son Alex (Oleksiy) was a four-year Nittany Lion letterwinner for the men's volleyball squad from 2004-2007 and earned postseason EIVA awards for three seasons.
