Penn State Men's Volleyball to Host Coaches Clinic
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., Jan. 24, 2002 -- Penn State men's volleyball head coach Mark Pavlik and assistant coach Dennis Hohenshelt will be hosting a coaches clinic Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 at Rec Hall on the University Park campus.
The clinic is designed to offer coaches a comprehensive view of all aspects of volleyball, with the Nittany Lion men's team scheduled to be involved in three practice sessions of the clinic. Coaches will be able to not only observe, but actively participate and assist in planning, management and execution of two of the sessions.
The fee for the two-day clinic is $60, which covers instruction, materials and a reception. Head coach Mark Pavlik is in his eighth season at the helm of the Penn State men's program and has compiled an overall record of 164-64. The 2000 EIVA Coach of the Year, he has led his teams to six EIVA championships and this past summer was a member of the coaching staff for the World University Games men's volleyball team that brought home a gold medal for the U.S.
Hohenshelt is in his sixth year as an assistant coach at Penn State and has also served as an assistant coach for the USA Youth and Junior national teams throughout his career.
The 2002 season culminates in Happy Valley, as Penn State has been chosen to host the 2002 NCAA Men's Volleyball National Collegiate Championship May 2-4 at Rec Hall. Two semifinal games will be held at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2. The National Championship match will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 7:00 pm.
