No. 6 Men's Volleyball Hosts No. 12 Lewis in Home Opener

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The sixth-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team (2-1) begins an eight-match home stand on Friday, Jan. 18 when it hosts No. 12 Lewis (1-4). Nittany Lion Preview The Nittany Lions finished 2-1 in their opening weekend of play at the Hawaii Outrigger Invitational. Penn State opened the season with a 3-2 loss to UCLA, but rebounded with a 3-2 victory against Hawaii and a 3-0 sweep of Ohio State. Sophomore Aaron Russell (Ellicott City, Md.) led Penn State with 3.23 kills per set, while junior Peter Russell (Ellicott City, Md.) and senior Tom Comfort (Orchard Park, N.Y.) had 3.20 and 3.00 kills per set, respectively. Redshirt freshman Taylor Hammond (Mission Viejo, Calif.) averaged 10.38 assist per set and senior Nick Turko (Lewisberry, Pa.) had a team-best 0.55 aces per set. Redshirt sophomore Connor Curry (Newport Beach, Calif.) recorded 2.23 digs per set and Turko led the team with 0.91 blocks per set, while redshirt freshman Matt Seifert (Reading, Pa.) posted 0.77 per set. In the Outrigger, Penn State hit .297 with 11.85 kills per set, 11.08 assist per set, 1.38 aces per set, 7.15 digs per set and 1.81 blocks per set.
Penn State vs. Lewis The Nittany Lions own a 16-8 record all-time against the Flyers. Penn State traveled to Lewis on Jan. 21 last season. Lewis came away with a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20) win.
