The sixth-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team (2-1) begins an eight-match home stand on Friday, Jan. 18 when it hosts No. 12 Lewis (1-4). Action is set for 7 p.m. in the South Gym at Rec Hall.

Nittany Lion Preview
The sixth-ranked Penn State men's volleyball team is back in action on Friday in their first home match of the 2013 season. The Nittany Lions host No. 12 Lewis at 7 p.m.
The Nittany Lions finished 2-1 in their opening weekend of play at the Hawaii Outrigger Invitational. Penn State opened the season with a 3-2 loss to UCLA, but rebounded with a 3-2 victory against Hawaii and a 3-0 sweep of Ohio State. Sophomore Aaron Russell (Ellicott City, Md.) led Penn State with 3.23 kills per set, while junior Peter Russell (Ellicott City, Md.) and senior Tom Comfort (Orchard Park, N.Y.) had 3.20 and 3.00 kills per set, respectively. Redshirt freshman Taylor Hammond (Mission Viejo, Calif.) averaged 10.38 assist per set and senior Nick Turko (Lewisberry, Pa.) had a team-best 0.55 aces per set. Redshirt sophomore Connor Curry (Newport Beach, Calif.) recorded 2.23 digs per set and Turko led the team with 0.91 blocks per set, while redshirt freshman Matt Seifert (Reading, Pa.) posted 0.77 per set.
In the Outrigger, Penn State hit .297 with 11.85 kills per set, 11.08 assist per set, 1.38 aces per set, 7.15 digs per set and 1.81 blocks per set.
Penn State vs. Lewis
The Nittany Lions own a 16-8 record all-time against the Flyers. Penn State traveled to Lewis on Jan. 21 last season. Lewis came away with a 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20) win.
Scouting the Flyers
Lewis is 1-4 so far in 2013. The Flyers opened their season going 0-3 at the UCSB Asics Invitational. Lewis lost to UC San Diego (3-2), UCSB (3-0) and Cal-Baptist (3-1). The Flyers then went 1-1 in back-to-back matches at Brigham Young on Jan. 11-12.
What's Next?
Penn State remains at home hosting Loyola-Chicago on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. before EIVA foes Sacred Heart and Harvard visit Rec Hall on Jan. 25-26. The Lions face SHU at 7 p.m. and host Harvard at 4 p.m.
