UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; June 11, 2007 - After the spring recruiting season wrapped up, the 2007 Penn State men's tennis recruiting class has been ranked No. 13 in the nation by The Tennis Recruiting Network. The class includes three five-star recruits, according to www.tennisrecruitng.net, and an Australian junior standout. The Nittany Lions received National Letters of Intent from Benji Kendall (Bryn Mawr, Pa.), Jake Toole (Sharon Mass.), Jamie Cox (Acworth, Ga.) and Edward Bourchier (Tasmania, Australia). "With adding Eddie in a late signing , along with our other three talented guys in the fall, I think this group possesses the talent to come in and contribute right away in either singles or doubles," said head coach Todd Doebler. "If this class develops and works hard, they have the potential to be the best recruiting class in the history of Penn State." Kendall, from Harriton High School, is currently 34th in the Tennis Recruiting Network's national rankings. Also according to those rankings, Kendall is ranked No. 1 in the state of Pennsylvania. He also holds the No. 3 spot in the Middle Atlantic rankings. Toole is ranked third in his home state and third in the New England rankings. According to the Tennis Recruiting Network, Toole holds the 50th spot in the national rankings. The third five-star recruit signed by the Nittany Lion men's tennis program is Cox, out of Harrison High School. Cox is ranked No. 5 in the state of Georgia and No. 56 in the national rankings.
