University Park, Pa., April 18, 2004-On the tail end of a weekend home stand, the Nittany Lions fell to Northwestern 6-1 on senior day at the Sarni Tennis Center. Penn State falls to 12-8 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten.

Penn State started the match off strong by winning at No. 1 doubles but couldn't close the door on the Wildcats dropping the doubles point. Senior Roddy Cantey (Aiken, S.C.) fought through a knee injury pairing up with sophomore Malcolm Scatliffe (San Bernardino, Calif.) to defeat Chuck Perrin and Justin Hoeveler 9-8.

Scatliffe continued his winning ways during the singles competition. Scatliffe defeated Tommy Hanus 6-1, 2-0 DEF. to give the Nittany Lions their lone point of the day. Penn State pushed two of the singles matches into three setters but came up short in both. Freshman Brad Hunter (Atlanta, Ga.) didn't have enough to overcome Adam Schaechterle 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 6 singles while fellow Nittany Lion senior Todd Stecko (Lake Forest, Ill.) fell to Willy Lock 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Penn State will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Minnesota on April 23, 6:30 p.m. and Iowa on April 25, 10:30 a.m.
