KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Penn State men's tennis freshman Matt Barry(Lido Beach, N.Y.) and senior C.J. Griffin(Portland, Mich.) earned a big doubles win on Saturday in the semifinal of the Smokey Doubles Draw. The duo advanced to the draw final, which will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Griffin also advanced to the consolation semifinal in the Orange Singles Draw. The Nittany Lions have a total of five singles wins and three doubles wins so far in the Invitational.

In the semifinal match on Saturday, Barry and Griffin matched up against Xavier's Patrick Bandy and Phil Diaz. They came out on top with a tough 8-6 victory. In Sunday's final, they will take on Tennessee's Jarryd Chaplin and Mikelis Libietis, who were ranked as tied for 17th in the nation by the 2012 Preseason ITA Doubles Poll. On Friday, Barry and Griffin defeated Wright State's Michael Lyzwa and Lauri Makikalli 8-1 to reach the draw semifinal.

In the Orange Doubles Semifinal, Guanhua Chen(DaLian, China) and Chris Young fell to USC Upstate's Gonzalo Blanco and Yvon Haessig 8-5. They picked up a win on Friday in the quarterfinal over Xavier's Brandon MacDonald and Zachary Mueck 8-4.

C.J. Griffin earned a singles win on Saturday in the Orange Singles Draw consolation second round by knocking off Wright State's Hayden Joblin 3-6, 6-3, 10-8 in a tough battle. He advanced to the consolation semifinal after his quarterfinals opponent Louisville's Chris Simich had to withdraw due to injury. Griffin picked up a win on Friday in the first round of the consolation bracket over Eastern Kentucky's Joao Maio 6-0, 6-1. On Sunday, Griffin will face Xavier's Brandon MacDonald in the semifinal at 11:30 a.m. The consolation final will be played later in the day.

After reaching the White Singles Draw quarterfinal with two wins on Friday, Chris Young dropped a tough battle to USC Upstate's Viktor Selander 7-6, 1-6, 7-5. In Friday's first round match, Young defeated Western Michigan's Stephen Payne 6-2, 6-1. He followed that with a 6-4, 6-4 second round win over Chattanooga's Jackson Tresnan.

In a White Singles Consolation second round match on Saturday, Guanhua Chen fell 7-6, 6-2 to Western Michigan's Jimmy Beckwith. On Friday, Chen earned a win over Dayton's Colin Bernier(6-3, 6-1) in the consolation first round.
