CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Penn State men's tennis team finished the first day of the UVa Fall Classic. The Nittany Lions earned three singles wins and a doubles win on the day.
Ramy Labna (Doha, Qatar) won his first round match in the Green Singles Draw against Radford's Javier Waase 7-5, 6-2. Labna advanced to the quarterfinal against Princeton's Josh Yablon, but fell 7-6(7-5), 6-1. Labna competes against Norfolk State's Igor Braga, the No. 1 seed in the draw, in the 5th place bracket.
Senior Chris Young (Melbourne, Australia) matched up against William & Mary's Aaron Chaffee in the Red Singles Draw first round, falling 6-2, 6-3. Young bounced back with a consolation bracket win against James Madison's Niels Kathal, 6-3, 6-1. Young takes on Coastal Carolina's Leo Christofides in the consolation semifinal.
David Kohan (Sydney, Australia) fell in his first round match in the White Singles Draw against Bucknell's Nick Bybel, 6-4, 6-3. Kohan took on Radford's Joe Mills in the consolation round, but could not bounce back, dropping a 6-4, 7-5 match. Kohan will play against George Mason's Chris Borden on Saturday.
In the Orange Singles Draw, Nika Dolidze (Tbilisi, Georgia) dropped his first round match against Virginia Tech's Aaron Gomez, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. In his consolation match, Dolidze faced George Mason's Jimmy Lange and won 7-5, 6-2. Dolidze moves onto the consolation semifinal on Saturday against College of Charleston's Crescente Lesser.
Kohan and Young combined in the White Doubles Draw against Radford's Bharani Sankar and Roman Ilchev for an 8-0 first round win. In the semifinal, they will matchup against George Mason's Conor Moran and Aaron Capitel.
Dolidze and Labna also paired up, but dropped their first round match in the Gold Doubles Draw, 8-1 against Liberty's Alex Llamas and Stan Vaughan. On Saturday, they face Coastal Carolina's Roman Samed and Rick Timmerman.

Consolation) Chris Young(PSU) def. Niels Kathal(James Madison), 6-3, 6-1.
White Singles Draw:
First Round) Nick Bybel(Bucknell) def. David Kohan(PSU), 6-4, 6-3.
Consolation)Joe Mills(Radford) def. David Kohan(PSU), 6-4, 7-5.
Orange Singles Draw:
First Round) Aaron Gomez(VT) def. Nika Dolidze(PSU), 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
Consolation) Nika Dolidze(PSU) def. Jimmy Lange(GMU), 7-5, 6-2.
