Nittany Lions look to build on 2-0 start; matches at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Fall 2014: Went 1-6 in singles and 4-6 in doubles, while competing at the Penn Invitational, ITA Atlantic Regional and William & Mary Invitational... Went 2-2 in doubles at Penn, combining with Michael Reilly and Marc Collado Castells. Lutschaunig and Reilly competed at the top doubles spot in the hidden-dual format, defeating St. Joseph's Tristan Boustany and Kevin Gates, 8-1, but dropping matches against Cornell's Kyle Berman and Sam Fleck, 8-6, and Princeton's Luke Gamble and Ben Tso, 6-3. Lutschaunig and Collado Castells defeated Penn's Vim De Alwis and Marshall Sharp, 6-2... Paired with Nika Dolidze at the ITA Atlantic Regional to split a pair of matches. The duo knocked off Old Dominion's Zvonomir Podvinski and Darragh Glavin, 8-4, but fell 8-5 against George Washington's #34 Francisco Dias and Julius Tverijonas... Also combined with Dolidze at William & Mary, going 1-3, with an 8-5 win against Old Dominion's Podvinski and Javier Maestre... Dropped a pair of three-set singles matches at Penn, falling to Princeton's Ben Tso and Penn's Thomas Spratt... Went 1-1 at the ITA Atlantic Regional, dropping a 6-4, 6-3 match against Will Juggins, but defeating George Mason's Aaron Capitel, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3... Dropped a trio of tight three-set matches at William & Mary.
2013-14 (Freshman): Lutschaunig did not see any singles action this spring, but combined with David Kohan to go 11-4 in doubles... Went 6-4 in singles and 8-5 in doubles this fall while competing at the Navy All-Conference Tournament, Wake Forest Invite, ITA Atlantic Regional and William & Mary Invitational... Kohan and Lutschaunig finished the fall by going 4-0 at the William & Mary Invitational... The duo won their first five matches, including victories against St. John's, #33 Virginia Tech, UMBC, Bucknell and Lehigh... They went 1-2 against #33 VCU, Penn and #1 Ohio State, but responded by going on another five-match win streak... This time, they defeated #50 Princeton, #47 South Florida, #62 UCF, Southern Miss and Michigan State... They clinched the doubles point five times this spring for the Nittany Lions.
Junior Career: Lutschaunig comes to Penn State from Richboro, Pa. He is a LaSalle College Prep alum and helped lead the school to the PIAA AAA Semifinals for the first time in school history. He was named MVP of the Philadelphia Catholic League. Lutschaunig was rated a four-star recruit and 98th-best prospect in the county by Tennisrecruiting.net. Combined with Alex Fennell to win a gold ball at the USTA Men's Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
