Penn State Finishes Regular Season Next Weekend vs. #24 Michigan, at #48 Michigan State
2011-12 Season (Junior): Academic All-Big Ten in 2012... Chen went 1-0 in spring action and 1-4 in fall action in singles... He also went 0-2 in doubles in the fall... Opened the fall season at the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational but fell 7-6, 6-3 to Princeton's Michael Lin and 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to Farleigh Dickinson's Yuri Gricheno. He also combined with Harry Seaborn in doubles but fell 8-1 to Cornell's Venkat Iyer and Alex Sidney and 8-5 to Princeton's Zack McCourt and Dan Richardson... Went 1-2 at the UVa Fall Classic, defeating Morgan State's Eric Ward 6-1, 6-0... Topped Bloomsburg's Evan Carney 6-2, 6-0 in his only action of the spring on February 4.
2010-11 Season (Sophomore): Posted a 2-4 record in the 2010-11 spring singles season...Appeared in one spring doubles match, falling to No. 3 Ohio State's Chase Buchanan and Devin McCarthy (8-2)...Earned an opening round singles victory (6-1, 6-2) at the Princeton Fall Invitational against Mark Hemy of Fairleigh Dickinson...Defeated Kelly Morque of Bucknell (6-0, 6-3) to earn his first spring singles victory of the season...Paired with Taylor Cohen to win three doubles matches Sept. 17 in Princeton Fall Invitational, including an 8-6 victory over the University of Pennsylvania's Zach Gorn and Dmitry Bury.
2009-10 Season (Freshman): Went 3-0 in spring singles action during the 2010 season...Appeared in one doubles match with C.J. Griffin in the spring, defeating Bloomsburg's Brandon Cummings and Alan Hummel (8-4)...Earned victories in two of his first three fall matches, defeating Cornell's Charles Quay (6-4, 6-4) and Binghamton's Rafeal Rodrigues (2-1 (retired))...Opened the spring season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lehigh's Cameron Silbert...Defeated Gregory Maxson of Bucknell (6-0, 6-3)...Earned a victory over Bloomsburg's Jack McClurkin (6-1, 6-0) on April 11...Picked up a doubles victory in the fall with Taylor Cohen over Saint Joseph's Matt Prusack and Mike Stauble (8-4).
Junior Career: Was named team MVP for 2007-08 at Boca Prep International High School...Held a 17-1 record his senior year and was a finalist for the doubles in the state of Florida...Earned the player of the year award for the Evert Tennis Academy.
