Spring 2014: Fennell went 16-10 in singles this spring to finish the year with 20 overall wins. He also went 1-1 in doubles... He combined with Matt Barry for a 6-5(4) doubles win against William & Mary... Fennell went 1-2 in his first three matches of the spring, including a win against St. John's... However, he then rattled off 10 straight wins, all at the No. 3 singles spot. The wins came against Cleveland State, UMBC, Bucknell, Binghamton, Lehigh, No. 33 VCU, Penn, No. 1 Ohio State, No. 50 Princeton and No. 47 South Florida... He won five matches in Big Ten play, coming against the Buckeyes, No. 28 Northwestern, No. 70 Wisconsin, No. 63 Nebraska and Iowa... He defeated No. 50 UNC Wilmington's Sam Williams, 6-4, 6-1, in the NCAA Tournament First Round... Fennell clinched the match point five times for Penn State.

Fall 2013: Fennell earned a 5-3 mark in singles and 5-3 in doubles... Fennell competed at the ITA All-American Championships, Wake Forest Invite and ITA Atlantic Regional... Fennell went 1-1 at the ITA All-American Championships, with a win over SMU's Eduardo Razzeto(6-2, 3-6, 7-5). Fennell picked up two victories at the Wake Forest Invite, knocking off UNC Greensboro's Randy Phillips(7-5, 3-6, 6-3) and NC State's Thomas Weigel(0-6, 6-2, 10-7). Also defeated VCU's Wilder Pimentel(6-3, 6-1) at the ITA Atlantic Regional... Combined with Christian Lutschaunig to go 2-2 in doubles at the Wake Forest Invite, knocking off teams from UNC Greensboro and East Carolina. Fennell and Russell Bader went 3-1 at the ITA Atlantic Regional, reaching the doubles semifinal. They defeated Georgetown's Shane Korber and Yannick Mahlangu(8-5), Virginia's Ryan Shane and Jordan Daigle(8-6) and George Washington's Francisco Dias and Viktor Svensson(8-4) on their way to the semifinal.

Junior Career: Fennell, a Bala Cynwyd, Pa., native, was rated as a five-star recruit and the 22nd-best recruit in the country by He combined with Christian Lutschaunig to give Penn State two of the top three prospects in Pennsylvania, according to The two combined to win a gold ball at the USTA Men's Open in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. The Lower Merion High School alum also reached the quarterfinals at the USTA Spring National Championships.
