State College, Pa. - November 9, 2005 - The Penn State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Charlottesville, Va. this Friday to swim against some of the hardest competition in the country. They will face Auburn, Virginia and Purdue on Friday and Saturday before returning home.

Auburn are the defending national champs, Virginia won the Atlantic Coast Conference last year and Purdue finished with an impressive 10-2 record in 2004-05.

When asked about competing against such successful teams head coach Bill Dorenkott said "We're looking to step it up a notch and compete."

The Penn State men have already seen success this year with decisive wins at home against West Virginia and La Salle, including wins by diver Adam Pierce, who was named Big Ten Diver of the Week.

The Penn State women were also victorious at home against West Virginia and have won on the road against Arizona State and UC Santa Barbara.

The meet will kickoff at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
