Men's Swimming & Diving Ranked No. 17 by CSCAA

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's swimming and diving team are ranked at No. 17 after the first meet of the 2012-13 season, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America office announced on Wednesday afternoon. The Nittany Lions cracked the top-25 teams in the nation, along with six other members of the Big Ten conference.
The Lions kicked off the season with a significant 174-69 win over West Virginia University, winning 10 of 11 events and placing in the top-three 29 times throughout the dual meet. Penn State will face off against several currently ranked teams throughout the year, including No. 8 Indiana (Nov. 16), No. 9 North Carolina (Jan. 3), No. 9 Georgia (Nov. 30) and No. 23 Missouri State (Jan. 12). Additionally, the squad will see some of the best competitors in the country at the Georgia Invitational (Nov. 30-Dec. 2) and the Ohio State Invite (Feb. 16-17).
Penn State represents the Big Ten conference, along with No. 2 Michigan, No. 8 Indiana, No. 13 Minnesota, No. 18 Purdue, No. 19 Iowa and No. 25 Wisconsin. Michigan State and Northwestern received votes, as well. The Lions will be sure to face these tough opponents at the Big Ten Championships, which will take place Feb. 27-March 2.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. when the squad hosts Villanova at the McCoy Natatorium.
