State College, Pa. August 31, 2000 - The Penn State men's swimming and diving team has been recognized as an All-America swimming team for the Winter/Spring Semester of 1999 by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Nittany Lions posted an overall grade point average of 2.99, which ranks 20th among Division I swimming and diving programs. Individually, five Penn State student-athletes were recognized with All-America status. Sophomore Martin Schierhorn (Zappendorf, Germany) led the Nittany Lions with a 3.92 gpa, which ranked fourth-highest nationally among Division I swimmers and divers. Gavin Carscallen (Calgary, Alberta), Matt Teeter (Gettysburg, Pa.), Chris Alderman (Arlington, Va.) and Jeff Harrison (Baltimore Md.) rounded out Penn State's All-America selections.
