Penn State's Alderman Finishes 12th at U.S. Diving Senior Nationals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (July 22, 2004) - Junior Mike Alderman (Arlington, Va.) improved upon his best NCAA Championships performance by finishing 12th on the 1-meter diving board at the United States Diving Senior Nationals, held July 21st in Mission Viejo, Calif.

Alderman recorded a score of 268.45 in the preliminary round, which saw 26 elite divers from around the country competing. He qualified for the 2003 NCAA Championships, where he took 26th on the 1-meter board and 24th on the 3-meter board.

Alderman will join senior Marc Gastaldo (Winslow, Maine) and junior Adam Pierce (Conroe, Texas) to form an experienced diving team for the Penn State men's swimming and diving team during the 2004-05 season.
