State College, Pa., June 19, 2000 - Former Penn State diver Chris Devine (Breinigsville, Pa.) will compete at the U.S. Diving Olympic Trials on June 20-25 in Federal Way, Wash., for a chance to participate in the 2000 Olympic Games.

Devine will compete in both the three-meter springboard and three-meter synchronized diving events. The top two finishers in the three-meter springboard event will earn a spot on the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team. The synchronized diving selection procedure will be based on the evaluations of the U.S. Diving Coaching Staff.

Devine dove for the Lions from 1991-1995. At the Big Ten Championships in 1994, he captured the three-meter title and was also named Big Ten Diver-of-the-Year. He also placed at the NCAA Championships three of his four years including a third place finish in the one meter in 1994.

Synchronized diving will be offered as an Olympic event for the first time during this year's games.
